In partnership with Walberton-based Geoff Burse Trailers, the plant provided its hot dip galvanizing treatment to over four tonnes of steelwork for a staircase in the observation tower at the entrance to the River Arun, which has recently undergone a major refurbishment.
The work took four weeks to complete, with the spiral staircases being designed and fabricated by GB Fabrications before being transported by Geoff Burse Trailers to Wessex Galvanizers for its protective coating.
Steve Dicker, Managing Director at Geoff Burse Trailers, explained: “Galvanising was specified due to the look-out tower being situated so close to the water and to increase the staircase’s life-span. We have worked with Wessex Galvanizers for over a decade and knew they would provide a first-class service which will ultimately meet – and exceeded – our client’s needs.”
Richard Whiddett, Sales Manager at Wessex Galvanizers, commented: “The staircase is now protected against weathering and rust for many years to come, and will ensure the entrance remains aesthetically-pleasing for visitors and locals. We look forward to working with the team at Geoff Burse Trailers again in the near future.”
