Sovereign View – an impressive riverside apartment block in Rotherhithe, East London has received a complete facelift, thanks to the skills of the London-based refurbishment specialists Gunning London.
Working flexible hours so as to keep disruption to a minimum, a team of 20 specialist contractors has refurbished the building throughout, renovating and repairing many dozens of timber windows as well as hundreds of metres of soffits and guttering.
Tom Gunning, Managing Director, said Gunning London won the £600,000 contract on competitive tender:
“Working on a project of this size and scale requires careful planning and control of our teams on site,” he explains.
“We won the bid based on a proven track record on high-end residential projects of a similar size, our local presence, and cost-effective pricing, and have completed the work on time and on budget, and with minimum inconvenience to residents.”
The Gunnings’ team included roofers, carpenters, and decorators to undertake a range of works that include roof and gutter repairs, and the renovation and repair of timber windows, soffits and doors, the latter using the Repair Care system specifically designed for sustainable timber restoration.
The front façade now looks as new as the day it was built, thanks to a further team of specialist cleaners recruited to Doff Clean the stone and brickwork – a steam-cleaning solution that is very effective on more delicate surfaces. While the temperature in the system is high, the pressure on the surface being cleaned is very gentle and the volume of water is very low. As such, the wall surfaces do not become saturated, and dry in minutes.
The exterior of the building has been redecorated using the Dulux Weathershield system.
