Taking inspiration from the iconic Riverside Studios it sits within, a new British brasserie-style restaurant has been delicately designed to reflect its dramatic surroundings.
Sam’s Riverside is located inside London’s landmark arts and entertainment complex which has recently undergone a major multi-million-pound regeneration project.
The dynamic cultural venue features flexible performance space, a TV studio, cinemas, event and rehearsal space, a gallery, workspaces, the centre’s archive, bars and restaurants.
The aesthetics of the eatery have been carefully composed to reflect the glamour and sophistication of the entertainment industry, whilst paying homage to the building’s rich heritage.
Overlooking the stunning scenery of the River Thames, Sam’s Riverside features a 90-seat all day restaurant with private dining room for up to 16 guests and outdoor space for a further 40.
Large windows frame the front of the venue in natural light, allowing diners to take in the truly breath-taking vista while enjoying delicious contemporary dishes.
Award-winning hospitality studio DesignLSM has created an informal yet sophisticated ambiance, with an eye-catching colour palette.
Stylish banquettes featuring shades of deep navy blue are accentuated by soft pink, rich timber and subtle fawn furnishings.
Solus’ Area Sales Manager Michael Irvine suggested that the company’s on-trend textured Cheswick wall tiles from the District range would be the perfect complement to the chic décor while its elegantly cut bespoke triangular floor pattern comprising Nero Marquinia, Bianco Carrera and Emperador Beige creates a unique focal point around the bar.
Sam Harrison, owner of Sam’s Riverside, said: “Riverside Studios is an amazing location and the views it offers over the River Thames are absolutely sensational. It is the perfect place to open a restaurant and I am delighted that Sam’s Riverside can play a part in the next chapter of this iconic building’s story.
“DesignLSM has certainly achieved my vision of creating a special dining experience, offering guests the personal touch so they feel relaxed and comfortable while also enjoying luxurious surroundings. Solus’ bespoke feature floor tiles were an inspirational choice and really stand out among the soft palettes, creating a ‘wow’ factor, while the Cheswick range adds character to the walls.”
Senior Designer DesignLSM Tom Munson added: “We’ve worked with Sam on his previous restaurants in Chiswick and Balham and he definitely has a keen eye for detail and a clear idea of the type of ambiance he wants to offer his guests. Collaboratively we wanted to design a high-end space that exudes a real sense of quality and sophistication.
“Our brief was to create a juxtaposition of highly refined materials, offering a contemporary backdrop focused around the resplendent riverside views. The décor depicts the vibrancy and creative persona of the West London neighbourhood it sits within while a considered palette of stained oak, brass and marble creates an honesty and openness that seamlessly unifies the space. We introduced a softness through the furnishings in rich dark teal, burnt orange and subtle pinks.
“When we spoke to Michael at Solus about our vision, he suggested that custom-cut tiles would add a touch of exclusivity by creating a feature apron around the bar that is truly unique to Sam’s Riverside. The idea exceeded our expectations and we are delighted with the result.”
