For the last three
years, Ceramiche Piemme has been ranked among the most sustainable companies in
the Italian ceramic industry: indeed, this year the Fiorano Modenese brand won
the “2020 CONAI award for the ecodesign of packaging in the circular economy”.
An initiative that awards the most eco-sustainable packaging solutions on the
Italian market. Ceramiche Piemme was not only chosen for its raw material
savings, but also for its logistics optimisation for the 80×80 cm tiles and
simplification of the packaging system for the 30 x 119.5 cm size.
“It is a recognition of the commitment of each and every one of us to
improving quality standards throughout the supply chain,” explains Davide
Colli, Chief Operating Officer of Ceramiche Piemme. “In spite of this
period of great uncertainty that the whole of Italy is currently facing,
investing in innovation and environmental awareness is an important part of the
company’s development strategy. We have been following this path for some time
and it has also led us to invest, for example, in a large cogeneration plant
that will allow us to dramatically reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere and
to supply the daily energy requirements of our plants.”
The award was open to all member companies that reviewed their packaging in the
2018-2019 two-year period from an innovation and environmental sustainability
standpoint, addressing at least one of the following aspects: reuse, raw
material savings, logistics optimization, streamlining of recycling operations,
use of recycled material, simplification of the packaging system and
optimization of production processes.
