Russell Roof Tiles Invests £90K in Plant

Pioneering pitched roof tile manufacturer, Russell Roof Tiles, has invested £90,000 in an energy efficient, high performance Borche injection moulding machine to speed up its plastic manufacturing operation.

Borche is one of the largest injection moulding machine manufacturers in the world, which is why Russell Roof Tiles, who employs 140 people across its two sites in Burton, and one in Lochmaben (Scotland), is continuing to invest in their high quality, cost effective machinery.

The new Borche BS series injection moulding machine has already proven to increase the overall manufacturing capacity by 23 per cent in comparison to its predecessor due to its size and tooling capabilities.

The £90,000 investment is the latest to join the fleet of Borche machinery purchases made by the manufacturer having proven to be reliable and versatile. The switch to Borche will help the firm keep up with demand and drive down operational costs.

The production growth and company’s drive for efficiency across the Dry Fix product range has been spearheaded by Daniel Hancox, Business Support Manager at Russell Roof Tiles.

Dan commented: “There are two main factors we took into consideration before purchasing the new machinery and that’s its cost efficiency and eco-credentials. The new Borche machine can save between 20 – 80 per cent of energy compared to a traditional hydraulic system. It’s a great piece of machinery that aligns with our sustainability and Net Zero goal as it helps to reduce our carbon footprint. We’re delighted with the performance of the machine and expect that Borche will continue to be part of our future plans.”

The latest investment will allow the company to increase efficiencies and is part of Russell Roof Tiles’ long term capital improvement plan to further enhance quality across the business, by utilising the latest innovations in manufacturing.

Russell Roof Tiles is a leading independent pitched roof tile manufacturer providing products for leading UK housebuilders and high-profile social housing and commercial projects, where sustainability and eco-credentials are of the utmost priority.

Early in 2022 Russell Roof Tiles announced its ambition to be Net Zero by 2040. The manufacturer recognises that as a leading sector player, the company has a responsibility to perform an important role in supporting the UK’s transition to Net Zero.
