Discover your new career path with St. Modwen Homes

by Francesca

Are you thinking about your next career steps? Maybe you’re in your final year of school or college, or perhaps you’re looking to change your career path and kick-start a new career in construction. Whatever your situation, St. Modwen Homes’ talent pool of apprentices, graduates and trainees can help people of all ages and backgrounds get a foot in the construction industry.

St. Modwen Homes understands the importance of helping more people get into construction, and last year (2019), 12% of all St. Modwen Homes employees were either apprentices, trainees or graduates. This year, the homebuilder is hoping to build on this success and employ even more people in these important roles.

Gemma Batchelor, 25, had worked as a Customer Care Coordinator at St. Modwen Homes for four years before starting her site manager training in September 2019. She explains:

“When I was working in customer services, being out and about on site and meeting customers was the best part of the job. I knew that I wanted to be on site, with a more hands-on role, and St. Modwen Homes’ trainee programme really helped me to achieve this.

“I am now working as a Trainee Site Manager at the Edison Place development in Rugby and I couldn’t enjoy the role more. I have the support of an excellent site team and guidance from Construction Director Nick Seddon, who has helped me settle into my new role.

“Getting into construction is one of the best decisions I have ever made, no one day is the same. I get to interact with customers, conduct final inspections, meet with NHBC inspectors and assist with managing the whole site.”
