Save an average of £400 on your energy bills in time for next winter, says expert
North West-based energy services company, Making Energy Greener, is providing the public with the chance to have insulation installed in their homes for free this spring – saving people an average of £400 a year on their energy bills, something consumers are completely unaware of, which has frustrated Managing Director, Rebecca Armstrong.
Following on from its previous campaign aimed at educating the public on fuel poverty last winter, this new initiative comes as part of Making Energy Greener’s call for individuals to ‘embrace the season of change’, encouraging the public to make changes to their home and take advantage of its free insulation service while the weather is more hospitable.
Through this new initiative, MEG aims to extend its reach to as many households across the country as possible, focussing on homeowners within council tax bands A-D in England and E in Wales, including properties rated EPC D and below for homeowners, and E and below for tenants.
In addition, Making Energy Greener has also made a substantial investment in installing a large amount of new, smart heating controls, enhancing energy efficiency and energy management within homes. The company says now is the best time to make homes more energy efficient with measures such as installing loft or cavity wall insulation, switching to smart heating controls or installing an air-source heat pump, minimising inconvenience for customers.
MEG is a leader in the energy services sector, delivering deep retrofit and energy efficient heating systems for homes across the UK for over five years. With an ambition of making every home in the country an eco-home, the firm works with Local Authorities, energy companies, housing associations and landlords to instal free energy saving measures, including loft, room in roof, cavity and solid wall insulation, efficient heating systems, smart heating controls and other renewables such as air source heat pumps and solar PV.

MEG now has access to LA Flex funding in multiple regions across the UK from the Wirral, Liverpool City Region, and Manchester City Region, to Shropshire, Wales, and Sheffield. LA Flex funding is available to residents who are either living in fuel poverty or on low income and therefore vulnerable to living in a cold home.
The Great British Insulation Scheme is a government scheme to help people insulate their homes, make them more energy efficient and save money on their energy bills. The £1 billion scheme will help around 300,000 households across the country with the cost of installing new home insulation.
With sites in Liverpool and Preston, MEG installed over 7,000 energy efficient measures into homes right across the country in 2021-22.
