Grand Designs Live – The Grand Event Full of Inspiration and Expert Advice Returns to London

by Francesca

From 2-10 May 2020, London’s ExCeL will play host to Grand Designs Live, inspiring visitors with innovative suppliers in home design, build, renovation and décor; as well exploring the current trends with unseen products, items not found on the high street, plus household names. Split into the four key areas of a large scale home project; Build, Kitchens & Bathrooms, Interiors and Gardens, the event features over 500 self-build and home improvement companies, live talks, educational seminars and free advice sessions.

New for the 2020 event include the likes of AAB, offering over 400 types of Dutch, Danish and German manufactured clay facing bricks, as well as manufacturers of transparent photovoltaic glass for roofing, façades and whole building envelopes, Polysolar. Other companies featuring their brand at the event for the first time include Jackon, who provide top quality insulation materials, along with David Smith St Ives Limited, manufacturers of engineered joists, trusses, glulam and staircases.

Returning favourites in 2020 include the likes of BORA, with their innovative extraction system, built seamlessly into your kitchen worktop, drawing vapour downwards, along with Maxlight’s high performance, ultra slim frame sliding doors. For custom made contemporary furniture, including the magic extending tables, visit Adventures in Furniture and for entrance doors with elegantly hidden handles, fingerprint readers and magic night illumination, head to Pirnar Doors stand.

To follow the eco ethos of the iconic television series on which the event is based, Grand Designs, the event features an area to represent the most ground-breaking and eco-friendly products on the market. Hand-picked by Kevin McCloud, this year’s event will showcase not only the latest green heroes, but a number from over the years, as Kevin’s Green Heroes celebrates its 10 year anniversary. Find out where these small start-ups and big businesses are now, as we invite them to not only showcase their latest products, but to talk about how their brand has developed since featuring at the event.

If you’re looking for interior inspiration and to discover the latest trends, head to the themed room sets, which provide a great way to take home supplier names, ideas and designs for the small, sometimes unloved, “Great British Box Room”.

With more yet to be announced, visitors can expect invaluable inspiration for everything from renovations to home builds, decorating and much more…
