Harvey Coyne of The Joinery Co (London) picks up the British Woodworking Federation’s Apprentice of the Year Award

Harvey Coyne, an apprentice at The Joinery Co (London) Ltd, has picked up Apprentice of the Year at the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) Awards for his enthusiasm, passion and creative workmanship.

The Woodworking Apprentice of the Year Award, sponsored by CITB, celebrates the outstanding achievements of woodworking apprentices and the value that their passion and commitment has added to their organisation. The BWF Awards recognise and rewards the best of woodworking and joinery sector, with six categories rewarding technical innovation, health & safety, design and process efficiency achievements and the rising stars of the industry.

According to his company, Harvey has been a model student who has excelled both at college and in the workplace. Commending Harvey’s achievements, BWF Award judges commented that “Harvey clearly demonstrates a real passion for his work and excels in the opportunity to use his high level of creativity and workmanship when planning and creating work pieces.”

Helen Hewitt, Chief Executive of the BWF said:

“The entries to this year’s BWF Apprentice of the Year Award set the bar extremely high and are a testament to the talent and achievements of those entering our profession. The judges had a difficult task in selecting a winner, but it’s clear that Harvey’s passion and creative workmanship is demonstrated and valued everyday by The Joinery Co. I have no doubt that Harvey has a successful career ahead of him.”

She added: “The BWF Awards celebrate the outstanding talent and skills in the woodworking and joinery sector, and I want to congratulate all our winners who continue to push the boundaries in our sector. Every year I’m amazed at the hard work, innovation and incredible skill that is demonstrated in our sector and it gives me so much pride at what is achieved. The Awards were a fantastic opportunity to bring the industry together once again and celebrate the success and exciting achievements of all of our finalists.”

Harvey Coyne, apprentice at The Joinery Co (London) Ltd said, “I’m extremely proud to be receiving this Award, and grateful to The Joinery Co for supporting me throughout my apprenticeship. At The Joinery Co I’ve been able to learn about the wide range of roles and career paths within the woodworking sector, and I’d encourage everyone to consider a future in our profession.”

The prize was presented at a celebratory awards evening held at the Kimpton Fitzroy London Hotel.
