The Waldorf Hilton has successfully donated 1600 plastic bottles to Somerset House for their latest installation ‘The Arks of Gimokudan.’
On display from the 5th – 26th April 2022, the installation by Philippine artist-designer Leeroy New, marks the occasion of Earth Day 2022. This is Leeroy New’s first large-scale UK installation and it uses only plastic waste and recycled materials.
Exnol Harris, Chief Engineer, led the operation to retrieve the 1600 water bottles, from various departments and events at the hotel. His team carried out a weekly collection, ensuring that any plastic bottle used was retrieved and stored especially for this project.
The Waldorf Hilton is making strides to enhance its sustainability initiative.
Recently, the hotel participated in Earth Hour, where the lights on three canopies and the façade were switched off, alongside non-essential meeting lights and battery-operated candles were used to light the lobby and their Signature Restaurant, Homage.
