Digital Construction Week (DCW), Europe’s leading innovation and technology event for the built environment, has officially launched its free-to-attend speaker programme. The show takes place on 24-25 November at ExCeL London.

Offering over 120 hours of exclusive, CPD-accredited content – ranging from talks and workshops to interactive demos and panel discussions – the programme spans across nine themed theatres and features expert speakers from across the built environment. The theatres to visit this year include the Main Stage, BIM Village, BIM Workshops, Geospatial Theatre, Innovation Stage, Transformation Hub, Visualisation Theatre, Tech Stage and the new People & Change Theatre.

Sessions for the Main Stage and Tech Stage are coming soon. In the meantime, here’s a preview of some of the unmissable content to see at the show:

BIM Village

DCW are partnering with the UK BIM Alliance once again to bring visitors the BIM Village. Sessions on this theatre offer practical learning, case studies and best practice focused on information management using BIM. The programme caters to everyone, from those just starting out on their BIM journey to those looking to improve on existing expertise.

Some programme highlights include: Classification Mapping: why and to what? with Sarah Delaney, Head of Classification and Emma Hooper, Digital Information Specialist, Government and Industry Interoperability Group (GIIG); and How the Environment Agency is implementing an Information Management Platform, and why with Karen Alford, FCRM Manager, Digital Asset Data and Information, Environment Agency.

BIM Workshops

Like the BIM Village, the BIM Workshops returns this year in partnership with the UK BIM Alliance. This theatre features a series of workshops focused on the technical side of delivering BIM. These sessions are designed to look at the specifics of BIM delivery, offering a chance to get into the detail with experts and ask questions.

Visitors can attend: Mind the Gap – The Leap to Digital Twins with John Adams, Head of Product, Glider Technology; and Digital Management Software – Open workshop with Rob Hine, Head of Commercial Partnerships and Rahul Shah, Sector Development Director, BSI – plus many more.

Geospatial Theatre

The Geospatial Theatre at DCW looks at the latest trends in geospatial technology and GIS, with live demos and interactive exhibits. Visitors can explore the wider role of geospatial as it feeds into the digital built environment, the opportunities for future cities, estate management, and even autonomous transport systems.

Highlights include a session from Sophie Stouki, Group Head of GIS, Costain Ltd, Transforming business performance and infrastructure intelligence through leading edge geospatial solutions. While Georgios Floros, GIS Lead and Dr Anita Soni, Deputy Head of BIM, Skanska UK will present Towards a GeoBIM Strategy for Transportation Infrastructure.

Innovation Stage

The Innovation Stage features talks from innovative professionals and thought leaders from across the globe. Sessions cover some of the most exciting technological advances in construction and engineering, with live demos and installations in robotics, additive manufacturing, UAV construction, wearable technology and much more.

Some highlights include: How do you repurpose space for a sustainable future? with Tony Jacob, Vice President of Design & Construction, Interxion: A Digital Realty Company; 3D-Printing – A Case Study for Innovation in Construction with Paul Mullett, Director, Engineering & Technology, Robert Bird Group; and Cybersecurity of Smart Buildings with Nikdokht Ghadiminia, Lecturer, University of East London.

NEW – People & Change Theatre

This year DCW features a new theatre focused on the human side of business transformation – the People & Change Theatre. Visitors can look forward to two days of free seminars and workshops, which explore behavioural change in the built environment, embracing new ways of working, strategies for driving staff engagement and workplace wellbeing, and how to create a more inclusive and diverse industry.

Programme highlights include: What’s holding construction professionals back from adopting a culture of change when it comes to health, safety, well-being and diversity? with Kate Field, Global Head Health, Safety and Wellbeing, BSI; How do I create a culture which enables change? with Elizabeth Kavanagh, People and Change Consultant, PCSG; Telling your story in the Social Media age with James Carew, Digital Communications Manager, Tideway; and many more.

Transformation Hub

The Transformation Hub is back at DCW this year, focusing on business transformation. The programme looks at the practicalities of digital adoption helping visitors to understand the impact on business and the challenges associated with embracing new ways of working.

Visitors can find out How Bouygues UK solved a critical cost control pain point, and are now using the same tool to improve quality and sustainability across their projects with Nicolas Poirier, Regional Financial Controller, Bouygues UK and Brittany Harris, CEO, Qflow.
