The Sash Window Workshop specialise in the replacement and draught proofing of traditional, timber windows and doors.

The Sash Window Workshop have extensive experience carrying out installations in period properties across London and Southern England, while also offer a supply only service nationwide.

Established over 25 years ago, the company manufacture all their own new windows and doors in their workshop in Bracknell, Berkshire.  New joinery is designed to improve energy efficiency, while replicating as closely as possible the proportions and designs of historic windows and doors.  The materials used allow the company to produce products to the highest specifications, combining minimum maintenance with maximum lifespan.

The Sash Window Workshop were recently contacted by the tenants and landlord of an office building located within a conservation area in Hampshire.

The tenants and landlord for the office had unfortunately previously decided to install plastic sash windows into the existing timber frames.  As the property was located within a conservation area, they had been instructed by the local planning officer to change their sash windows back to be traditional, timber sash windows.

Upon receiving the enquiry, our sales surveyor arranged to visit the building and met with the tenant, landlord and the council’s conservation officer to discuss the replacement windows and what would be required to restore them back to traditional sash windows.

After the details for the windows were agreed, an order was placed with The Sash Window Workshop to manufacture and install 12 new double glazed, wooden sashes to install into the existing window frames.

The windows were then manufactured and installed by The Sash Window Workshop, using a timber called Accoya, which is highly durable and stable, and comes with a 50 year anti-rot guarantee.

On completion of the work, the conservation officer commented that they were “very pleased with the outcome of the replacement window designs”.  The tenant and landlord were also happy with the work carried out, with the landlord also commenting that they were “delighted with the windows”.

With roughly half of the company’s orders every year coming from existing customers or recommendations, The Sash Window Workshop understand the importance of providing an excellent product and customer service.  They are also FENSA registered and FSC certified.
