Trio of zero carbon award wins for Wates

by Francesca

Fresh off a successful year delivering retrofit improvements to nearly 900 social housing properties across the country in 2022, Wates has been honoured with three leading zero carbon industry awards in as many weeks.

The first award, Most Innovative Retrofit/Refurbishment Scheme at the Housing Digital Innovation Awards 2023, was won in partnership with Northampton Partnership Homes (NPH). The award recognised the market leading work that NPH and their delivery partners are doing in transforming the energy efficiency of 150 homes across the town.

Last week brought two award successes for Wates, a win for Development Strategy of the Year at the EEM Building Communities Awards 2023 and a highly commended award for Contractor of the Year at the Retrofit Academy Awards.

David Morgan, Executive Managing Director, Wates Property Services said: “We pride ourselves on delivering projects for our customers that not only improve the quality of the property but will also benefit residents, the community, and the environment.

“We have seen great success with our zero carbon retrofit projects delivered as part of the LAD 1, SHDF Demonstrator and Wave 1 programmes and it is a fantastic achievement to be honoured with these awards and great recognition for the hard work and dedication of our teams. We are proud to work alongside each of our customers as they drive to achieve their net zero carbon targets and look forward to continuing our partnerships during the upcoming SHDF Wave 2 delivery programme.”

Project Coordinator (SHDF), Northampton Partnership Homes, Lauren-Marie Campbell added in relation to the Housing Digital and EEM Award wins: “I am really pleased with the recognition this ground-breaking project has received. As with any new initiative, you can never guarantee the outcomes, but Wates has provided NPH with their expertise and professionalism from the outset. Our unique ‘whole-house approach’ could not have been achieved without the enthusiasm and cooperation of all partners. Everyone worked extremely hard to ensure the best possible outcomes for our tenants and the results so far have exceeded expectations.”
