OP has completed work on The Claverley Group’s new Shrewsbury headquarters, creating a sophisticated workplace that celebrates the media company’s 150-year heritage.
The 4,000 sq ft office space seamlessly blends contemporary design with cultural touchstones from the company’s history, following The Claverley Group’s relocation from Wolverhampton.
The project’s centrepiece is a dramatic double-height reception area featuring architectural lighting, a statement staircase, and a striking feature wall. A sophisticated interpretation of Tudor-style design elements includes elegant wall panelling that provides the backdrop for the company’s collection of reimagined family portraits, creating a powerful visual connection to five generations of family leadership.
The first floor delivers a bright, open-plan environment flooded with natural light through full-height windows. Private offices arranged around the floor plate’s perimeter provide dedicated spaces for the leadership team, while central collaborative areas promote communication and teamwork.
Features include a fully equipped professional kitchen that serves as both a practical amenity and social hub, and a boardroom finished in deep, rich colours that exemplifies the balance between heritage and modernity. Premium furniture from manufacturers including Moventi and Narbutas creates a refined, contemporary feel throughout.
OP worked closely with the developer to integrate the CAT B fit-out with the base build and CAT A works in the new building, completing the project in just four weeks.
Gary Tailby, joint managing director of OP, said: “Working with The Claverley Group has been a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate how workplace design can bridge past and present. We’ve created a space that honours five generations of family leadership while providing the modern, flexible environments needed for today’s ways of working. The result is a headquarters that feels both timeless and contemporary.”
The project reflects OP’s commitment to sustainability, with existing furniture thoughtfully repurposed within the new space where appropriate.
The Claverley Group, which has flourished under the Graham family’s private ownership since 1882, continues to shape the future of media, publishing, digital marketing, and design while maintaining its foundational values of reliability, consistency, trust, and unsurpassed quality.
