ENGIE safely refurbishes more than 1,000 homes since first lockdown

Leading energy, regeneration and services specialist ENGIE has completed the 1,000th refurbishment property for Your Housing Group (YHG) since remobilising following the first national lockdown.

Having agreed to temporarily pause work during the first lockdown in 2020, ENGIE has since been working to comprehensive COVID-safe measures on projects across the country. In the North West, this has meant residents can have works done to their homes whilst being reassured every measure is being taken to reduce risks to health, protecting both them and the workforce.

The success of those Safe Operating Procedures, and the efficiency of the refurbishment team, has been highlighted by the completion of works on the 1,000th YHG house since works were resumed in July.

The milestone home belonged to Cheshire residents Lesley & Simon Wilson, who had a smart, modern, kitchen fitted in their property.

Lesley Wilson said: “We’ve lived here for 21 years and we really couldn’t be happier with the work. Every member of the team went above and beyond for us and it’s been a pleasure to have the team here. It’s been so nice putting the finishing touches in that have made it ours, since the work was completed.”

Neil Warburton, Head of Refurbishment & Sustainability at ENGIE, said: “I want to thank all our staff working on schemes across the North West for their exemplary work in reaching both 1,000 completed properties for Your Housing Group and, on a wider scale, refurbishing many more across the region.

“This year hasn’t been easy for any of us, but to see our teams working so hard to provide the same quality of services we have always delivered, whilst minimising the risk to residents and employees is fantastic.”

Lee North-Smith, YHG’s Interim Director of Property & Building Safety, said, “The speed at which this work has been achieved is thanks to the hard work and dedication that YHG and ENGIE have demonstrated during this pandemic. It is fantastic to be able to share the high quality of the kitchens and bathrooms that are being fitted in our residents’ homes thanks to the level of investment that has been committed to this project by YHG. We hope everyone will be as happy as Mr & Mrs Wilson!”

In addition to 1,000 homes refurbished for YHG, hundreds of other homes have been completed as part of ENGIE’s contracts with other housing providers in the region – further adding to the success of the remobilisation programme.
